    "Burnt Offerings" is a collection of original songs written in Latin and Ancient Greek (5th c. Attic). Partly inspired by "Heroides" of Ovid, each song is sung from the perspective of a woman or goddess from Classical mythology. The themes are centered on women's voices expressing their pain, anger, and desire for justice or wrathful retribution. The careful balance between vengeance and justice is a theme explored heavily in the Oresteia of Aeschylus which serves as another influence to "Burnt Offerings".

Amor Carmen Novercae (A Stepmother’s Love Song (Phaedra)
*I sing as Phaedra who, being the Cretan stepmother of Theseus’ son Hippolytus by the Amazon queen Hippolyta, under the spell of Aphrodite/Venus falls in love/lust with Hippolytus who swore chastity in devotion to Diana/Artemis. This is a letter she writes in secret to him in her vain lustful pangs.
It is meant to be slightly disturbing and play on the subversion of both the incest and the age difference. It is the only song in which the “crimes” committed are by the woman in the song as she becomes the hunter instead of the prey.
